US charges Russia’s Korshunov with conspiring to steal trade secrets

WASHINGTON, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- Alexander Korshunov, a top executive of Russian state industrial corporation Rostec’s subsidiary United Engine Corporation, has been charged with attempting to steal industrial secrets to improve Russian aircraft engines, the U.S. Department of Justice said late Thursday.

Korshunov, aged 57, was arrested on August 30 at the Naples International Airport. He is accused of collateral with Italian citizen Maurizio Bianchi, who worked at GE Aviation’s Italian branch.

Korshunov may face up to 10 years in prison.

Rostec said it will do everything possible to return Korshunov to Russia.
